Summary

Newlyweds Tricia and Ethan are searching for the house of their dreams。

But when they visit the remote manor that once belonged to Dr。 Adrienne Hale, a renowned psychiatrist who vanished without a trace four years earlier, a violent winter storm traps them at the estate… with no chance of escape until the blizzard comes to an end。

In search of a book to keep her entertained until the snow abates, Tricia happens upon a secret room。 One that contains audio transcripts from every single patient Dr。 Hale has ever interviewed。 As Tricia listens to the cassette tapes, she learns about the terrifying chain of events leading up to Dr。 Hale’s mysterious disappearance。

Tricia plays the tapes one by one, late into the night。 With each one, another shocking piece of the puzzle falls into place, and Dr。 Adrienne Hale’s web of lies slowly unravels。

And then Tricia reaches the final cassette。

The one that reveals the entire horrifying truth。

I finished this book in 24 hours。 The twist made my jaw drop and I had to sit there for a good 3 minutes with my mouth open reflecting on the book。 A MUST READ。

Well, this one sure got me! Never Lie is the perfect example of why I don't like to DNF books。 I truly thought I had this one figured out and was SO sick of one of the main characters that I honestly didn't think I was going to be able to tolerate listening to her anymore (audiobook, of course)。 Happy that I didn't quit because the ending was worth the wait。 I was sick at home today, and laying in bed listening to this book helped me forget how bad I felt and get over the worst of it。 (The narra Well, this one sure got me! This book keeps you on your toes the whole time! The twist at the end was not expected。 It definitely was more scary than other books I have read but worth a read!

Okay, 3 1/2? This is hard bc it was my first audio book experience, which is not really my thing, I’ve discovered。 But with the holiday madness & my want to catch up on my quota I decided I could listen to a novel & still task。 If I would have read this I probably would have enjoyed it more。 BUT, maybe not。 The dialogue was cringe at times, pretty sure that translates to printed text as well, and the story was dragged to death。 The plot twist was refreshing bc its seemingly going in a different Okay, 3 1/2? The book kept me interested throughout the whole thing。 It wasn't the most plausible or well-written book, but it was entertaining and required low focus, which I appreciated。 The book kept me interested throughout the whole thing。 It wasn't the most plausible or well-written book, but it was entertaining and required low focus, which I appreciated。 。。。more

The writing style itself was bad and I didn’t really get interested until the second half but I definitely didn’t catch the plot twist so I gave it an extra star

Too many plot holes and repetitive writing。

What a masterpiece! Freida did it again。 This is my third thriller written by her that I’ve read and is at the top of my list。 Just freaking perfect!!!So many plot twists! This was not great。 It's quick and easy so that's a positive。 But there are a lot of redundancies and although it didn't shake out the way I predicted, it didn't feel like it made sense。 The characters all pretty much suck。 It doesn't make sense how "strategic" or "highly intelligent" some of them are claimed to be based on their actions and conversations。 I got through it quickly and was willing to wait it out to see if my predictions were correct。 But it's good it wasn't any longer。 This was not great。 It's quick and easy so that's a positive。 But there are a lot of redundancies and although it didn't shake out the way I predicted, it didn't feel like it made sense。 The characters all pretty much suck。 It doesn't make sense how "strategic" or "highly intelligent" some of them are claimed to be based on their actions and conversations。 I got through it quickly and was willing to wait it out to see if my predictions were correct。 But it's good it wasn't any longer。 。。。more

This was my second book by Freida McFadden and I realize that I must not be a fan of her/her writing style。 I really wanted to give her a second chance since her books are so highly rated, but I just don’t understand the hype。 The twist was “meh”, I don’t think it really added anything to the storyline and I don’t really find her characters likeable。 The book was easy to read, but I just don’t think Freida McFadden is for me。
